Sava is now Mura
Sava is now Mura. The Mura CMS, until recently named Sava, is now known as Mura.
Why the repetition? Well, to help rebuild the brand for an excellent and highly productive CMS, whose name has recently changed from Sava to, you guessed it: Mura.
The guys at Blue River Interactive Group, producers of our favorite Content Management System, have experienced one of the biggest caveats of our digital world, that of stepping into somebody else's namespace (wiki). An existing CMS company has complained that 'Sava' is too close to their product name, and so BR has chosen to rename Sava as Mura. Personally I am greatly in favor of this decision, if only because these things can become quite costly on both sides (in both currency and PR). These issues also have a way of taking on a life of their own on the internet which neither company can control, where discretion is usually the better part of valor (just ask Jon Engle).

It is a sad inevitability that this will happen more and more as our world simultaneously gets both bigger and smaller . To their credit, BR has been using 'Sava' as a product name for many years, only having released it (and the name) to the public in 2008 at version 5. As to the other company, they have a right to protect their name and brand, so I don't fault them for wanting to protect their namespace. I also don't know the details of the communication that went on between them, but it seems as amicable as something like this can possibly be and a credit to both parties that they have moved on so gracefully.
I do feel for the BR guys, though. A name change like that is deep. It's in their code, their profiles, their business vernacular and their processes. It'll be a long process, a lot of recoding, and the rebuilding of their brand and web presence. So, to help them a long a little bit in Google:
Sava is now Mura. Mura, not Sava, Mura! Did you hear Sava is Mura now? Yes, it's called Mura now, not Sava.
