Ice On Whyte, the Edmonton, Alberta Ice Carving Festival, has launched their new website, graphically designed by Curbside Studio and developed by Clever Technology Inc.
Part of the project included building the website into the Sava CMS, taking advantage of its integrated Image Gallery and Blog tools. The Ice On Whyte site also had a very specific requirement in its volunteer application and scheduling system.
"The festival is ten days long, and with around 200 volunteer spots to fill in less than two months we needed something that was simple to use yet powerful enough to do the job," said Grant Shepert, lead developer for Clever Technology. "By creating an online system that allows people to apply directly on the website, and an administrative interface plugged into the IOW content management system that allows staff to approve and place their volunteers, it's basically a point and click operation for them."
The scheduler includes automated generation of PDF schedules for approved volunteers, as well as email reminders and a printer-friendly volunteer schedule for IOW staff.
