Flash and Flex development

Adobe Flash and its newest cousin Flex are two of the most powerful visual/rich interface tools available to web developers. They have several key advantages over other similar technologies, the foremost being that the vast majority of web users have the Flash Player installed in their web browser.

while each can be interchanged with the other to a certain degree, both Flex and Flash have appropriate uses.

Flash

when it comes to animation on the web, there is no better choice than Adobe Flash. As the very simple movie to the left illustrates, even a simple Flash movie can add a great deal of interest to a web page. Beyond pretty pictures, Flash is a very capable application interface, acting as the front end to what could be a very large remote application. What's more, it has become the standard movie player on the web, as any visitor to youtube.com can attest.

at CT you will find Adobe-certified Flash developers, experienced in the latest tools and techniques, capable of designing both attractive, stylish web interfaces and complex applications. For an example of what we have done in Flash, visit the MacEwan case study.

Flex

Flex is a new, complex tool for developing so-called RIAs (rich application interfaces). It is revolutionary in that it allows designers, programmers and managers to work together collaboratively on web-based applications. It includes a powerful set of development tools and sophisticated level of functionality, and is fully integrated with ColdFusion, Java and other server-side technologies.

Flex takes the mundane web-based application and turns it into a slick, user-friendly tool that moves the experience of the web to the next level. Shopping carts, interactive catalogues and visual data managers are just a few of the many applications Flex is suited for. To us, using it is like being a kid in a candy shop, and we won't soon get tired of testing this application's limits.
